Well it's been a very busy year and doesn't look to slow down anytime soon. Spent 6 weeks in Las Vegas for work but was able to get some hiking in there.

Climbed Frenchman Mountain at 4,052'

Gass Peak at 6,943'

Turtlehead Peak at Red Rock 6,624'

A trip to Hoover Dam

Sunrise Mountain 3,364'

A visit from the family and a trip to Red Rock

Our own airshow for the LONG flight home:

Last but certainly not least I did make it back to the Valley for about 24 hours and didn't do a bit of hiking. Went to a Cubs game!

Love all your photos!

My son will be at an airbase in Afghanistan starting in Oct.

Of your Europe photos, the castle in the cave is the most intriguing, but all the photos are interesting.

Hey Tim,
Great post. I could spend hours looking at the pic's and blog's, glad you and Jen are enjoying your time there and taking in so much!!

I enjoyed Belgium also, so many beautiful architectual places to see throughout Europe, different feeling and pace there.

Where was the shot of Jen at Eiffel Tower taken? I'm sure things have changed considerably since I went, don't remember that spot... wasn't the Trocadero?

Jets always intrigue me...nice shots!
Wasn't the Hoover Dam something? Amazing feat of work eh?
A can of beer at the top ... funny only you! Got in a family vist too... Cool!
Where was the Cubs game, Mesa? and who'd they play Brewers by chance? Laughing

You've given me inspiration with your adventures! Wink
Thanks for sharing

The Eiffel tower was actually at a little amusement park called mini-europe in Brussells, next to the Attomium which was built for the 58' Worlds Fair.

Hoover Dam is huge, the water was very low on Lake Mead though. I used to go there when I was stationed there in 2000, the picnic areas at Lake Mead State Park that used to be on the coast are now hundreds of yards from it. The bypass road is pretty amazing as well, should be done in another year or so.

Yes the Cubs game was in Mesa, it was opening weekend there against the White Sox, they got killed but I didn't care.

We got lucky enough to take one more trip before I deploy. Did a little Italy, Switzerland, France road-trip this time.

First we headed to Lake Como

Then a ferry ride from to the town of Bellagio

The next day we drove to Morges, Switzerland to see the 40th Annual Tulip festival.

Then drove to Geneva, Switzerland for the night.

Then we left Switzerland and drove through Southern France, where we saw some amazing roadside waterfalls

then my favorite part of the trip when we saw Mont Blanc at 15,774', planning a distant trip to climb that now.

Our last destination would be back in Italy at Torino. But before we got there we went through a valley in Italy that has 67 castles. We only stopped at a few.

In Torino we saw the Holy Shroud of Turin which only goes on display about once a decade. The Pope was also coming to see it in 4 days so the Duomo and area was crazy with security.

That will be the last fun trip for a few months, may have some other interesting pictures in a few weeks though.

Back from Afghanistan! I finally climbed something in Italy too. I climbed Cima Manera 7,381' (or Cavallo depending on the map) and Cima Palantina 7,188'. Part of the Cima Manera climb was also a Via Ferrata route so I got to throw on the harness and clip into some metal cables for some climbing sections. The fall colors where in full bloom as well. Glad to be back and felt great to get out on the trail again.
