I escaped the heat and welcomed the monsoon with an overnight up to Baldy Saddle and summited Mt. Ian on the Santa Rita Crest. Two days later, I was back to Madera Canyon for a fun loop dayhike to Rogers Rock and saw two of the most colorful spiny lizards engaged in an epic battle:

nice write up. You are very brave backpacking alone. Especially in the Santa Ritas.

Thanks- I find if I stay away from the lower springs and camping spots, that I decrease the risk of running into whatever illegal activity is in the area. As I said in my post, I wouldn't think of camping at Josephine Saddle by myself.

Sirena......I love the Santa Ritas, Madera and Wrightson Peak...this is one of my "escape to" places.....
