Attended a park tool school basic class and it was very good. The www.parktool.com is very informative on repair. Though I just do basic repair, but with nine bikes the minor stuff can keep me busy.

Thanks for that link, I'll have to take a peek.. Maybe I'll learn to change a tire. Have never tried to do anywork on a bike after the first attempt... a friend and I took things apart and put all the parts in a box, thinking we'd remember where and what they were for but didn't know what went where when reassembly came along. Resorted to taking to bike shop. They did do a nice job, although they all had a BIG laugh about the parts in the box. Embarassed

I am so with you on this one, nighthiker! I am not very good at teaching this stuff to myself, although my son is constantly telling me about websites, tools, etc. In the summer, after it is above 20 degrees in my garage, I plan to set up a bike workshop there and see if I can learn anything.

I have only two bikes now because I gave the third one to my daughter. I want to get a commuter/touring bike with mtn. bike type handlebars, and slightly heftier rims and tires than my roadbike, racks and panniers. Maybe I should try to build one?
