I wanted to get this up on the calendar so those interested can save the date. We're still sorting out the details.
This will be at my house in Gold Canyon. There will be a small instructional fee for Derek's time and expertise. The workshop will run 5-6 hours.....late afternoon through the evening-ish.
Our confirmed group (I think)
1. Derek
2. Me (Susan)
3. Angela
4. Todd
5. Trish
6. Randal
7. Ambika (for a smidge of time only)
8. Kat
9. Marie
10. John
Address information has been emailed to those signed up.
Potluck Plans
Tibber--I can bring a mandarin orange salad (I'm known for this and have been making it since the late 60s when I won a blue ribbon at the county fair, ha!) and maybe a cold cut tray of some sort with some cracker/rolls or something?
Trishness-- I do make a spicy and awesome Jicama Slaw if that piques any interest.
ChefTIO - Chicken Pasta Salad
Suz - Cooler full of bottled water, meatballs, chips/salsa
Randal - BBQ wings and ribs
Kat - Homemade Chocolate Cookies and Lemonade |

Congratulations! I'll keep my eyes peeled for that mag and calendar out here in NH. I knew you'd be in there eventually! _________________ "Your day-glo ballet days are over." Ancient chinese proverb.

That was just an amazing workshop. Thank you Susan for hosting, thank you Ambika for your technical assistance and thank you everyone for great food, YUMMY. It was nice to meet Randal and Todd too. Todd, have fun in Maui and really, don't worry about getting the Hawaiin green out of your photos .
Thanks Derek for a wonderful presentation. I enjoyed your interaction and responsiveness to all of our questions. It seemed quite evident to me that you wanted to share as much as you could with us. Once I get my new Photoshop Elements this week, I am really going to take a shot at that layering. I so appreciate its value. You have also convinced me that my next camera must shoot in RAW.
I have to say I got a big kick out of your mad dash for your camera in order to get the saguaro/rainbow photo. I hope it turned out well.
Also Derek, Congratulations on your Arizona Highways accomplishments!
I hope we can have another photo workshop again some time. _________________ Angela from N Phoenix |

yep, you can see Kat was prepared for rattlesnake country too. Suz, not so much .
I didn't even realize Randal took those photos. I can see I'm going to have to pay more attention when he's got a camera in his hands. _________________ Angela from N Phoenix |

I understand that Derek is being evaluated by the Friends of Arizona Highways Photographer interview process. From what I understand he could soon be conducting workshops under the Friend's of Arizona Highways name!!
Congrats Derek!! Very Exciting News!!
I've been a fan of his work for a very long time.
I suspect we'll not ever see a workshop for the price we just experienced!
Dang it, I should have gotten an autograph while he was here!
Snag your favorite photo now before prices go up!

Congratulations Derek! I'm so glad we got our workshop at that incredible price and who knows, maybe we'll get to join him on one of the less expensive AZ Highways forays.
Derek finally inspired me to get off my duff and I am now trying to use layers with my latest photos from the Chiricahuas hike I did Sunday. I am still figuring out how they work but I do like what I've been able to accomplish so far.
Continued success Derek and thanks again Susan for setting up the workshop. _________________ Angela from N Phoenix |

I thought I escaped from there without being in any photos - yikes! I look SO A.J.! _________________ Life on the road less traveled... more spaces, less faces. |
