Sounds great. I am going to bring a friend from Tucson who loves to do canyons and she's never been to Wet Beaver.

I'd love to carpool.!!!.
Last years met up at a Park N Ride.???.
I'm at 202 & Power. East Mesa.
How long is the Drive to get there.???.
What is a good time to leave in order to get to the TH by 0830.???.
Sometimes I get lost, and just disappear.
Dan
PS
I guess I'll just have to go shopping at REI on Friday.
Buy lots of stuff that has nothing to do with this trip, like always.

Ahhh! Thanks so much for the extra details, photos and info!
...Wow! 18 pools! ...
Now, I'm wondering if biking in on the jeep road would be a good idea to save time and get to the pools faster...then stash and lock up bikes, explore several pools, and return to TH by bike.
Is anyone else thinking of biking?
Big John and I may be looking for camping and additional biking down towards Prescott either before or after this event, most but probably after.
Any campsite or biking trail suggestions heading that way (toward Prescott), perhaps in the shady pines area? _________________ "Half the walk is but retracing our steps."

Wow! I LOVE that canyon. It was my first intro to Az. many years ago. Only went past the first big swimming hole. Wish I could go witth you, but gotta work and don't have all the gear. Do you wear water shoes as well?? Enjoy and take lots of photos. I think it may be as beautiful as West Fork! |

My friend and I don't have bikes so we will just have to hike.
If anyone is camping after the hike let us know , we were thinking of Dead Horse State Park, but Prescott sounds great! Is Wet Bever Campground open? _________________ Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. - Rachel Carson |

We have bikes but will have our 5 year old grand daughter Emily with us and will have to hike in the whole way. Is the plan to make this a real canyoneering type thing or just to walk the dry trail to "The Crack" (big swimming hole)to do some swimming and playing and maybe a little bit beyond?
Thanks,

We'll bring bikes just in case, but stay open to just hiking anyway.
Sounds like a more social, fun occasion overall.
We can still regroup for dinner at an agreed upon time at "La Fonda's"
whether some go by bike/hike combo or not, I suppose.
We wouldn't want to miss out on supping together!
Then, camping can be discussed, too, etc...

OK Todd, remember who stated all this...ME! So, in other words, there really isn't a plan right now. Last year we walked along the dry trail to the big swimming hole and played. My vote would be to do that again.

OOOps!
I was speaking of how we (John and I) will be prepared to participate.
(possibly a combo of bike/hike/sup and later camping on our returning thru Prescott to Kingman)
The plan stays original to your first intention, as far as I can tell.
Some may choose a slight variation on the theme, I suppose, in exploring the pools.
I'll say no more! _________________ "Half the walk is but retracing our steps."

Sounds like people are beginning to set up there car pools from the various corners of the universe. Yeah! I think Sande suggested a perfect weekend since the temps are beginning to rise!
Please PM me if you are looking for someone to carpool with.
Looking forward to a relaxing fun day with friends.

I believe there is a rather decent mexican food place in Camp Verde("La Fonda" a little ways west of 17 on 260). Did you guys go there last year? |
I think this is where we ate last year...at least some of us. Sounds like a good place to plan to eat at afterwards. Any other suggestions?

West of I-17 its Cottonwood, East of I-17 its Camp Verde. Camping, Beaver Creek is usually full, the same for Dead Horse. Both campgrounds are going to be warm, desert setting. |
